Sir Mahesh Patel, OBE
Founder for City Pharmacy Limited
Sir Mahesh Patel is the founder and director of CPL Group, Papua New Guinea’s largest retail and healthcare company. A visionary entrepreneur, he has played a pivotal role in transforming the retail and pharmaceutical sectors in the region.
In addition to his leadership at CPL Group, Sir Mahesh is the Chairman of the CPL Foundation, the company’s philanthropic arm dedicated to pushing community development initiatives and supporting health and education programs throughout Papua New Guinea.
Sir Mahesh Patel, through his commercial acumen and commitment to social responsibility, continues to inspire and spearhead initiatives to make a positive difference in the areas CPL serves.
President
Omega Fitzgerald Manua
Omega graduated from the University of Papua New Guinea with a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree in 2006.He has worked as a senior pharmacist at Port Moresby General Hospital for the past 18 years.
He collaborated successfully with the hospital by serving in various pharmacy clinical roles, teaching intern pharmacists and undergraduates, providing necessary leadership and championship in pharmaceutical health care.
Omega is a firm believer in the transformation of pharmacy services, particularly in the fields of clinical pharmacy, personalized treatment, gene therapy, and precision medicine, with enhanced public health systems led by pharmacists in digitalization and pharmacy wellness centers.
Vice President
Ms. Judith Lizanne Nui
Judith is a pharmacist with approximately 8 years of experience in pharmaceutical regulatory roles, specializing in Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) in drug testing.
She is currently the Quality Assurance Lead at the National Department of Health’s Medicines Quality Control Laboratory. Since 2016, Judith has been an active member of the AMR Secretariat, where she worked to improve pharmacy practice and battle antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in PNG.
Judith received the Fleming Fund Fellowship from the UK Government and is committed to policy development and addressing AMR in PNG.
Secretary
Ms Gloria Morea
Gloria has worked in medical supply distribution and logistics in PNG’s Southern Region, as well as procurement and pharmacy service delivery, in her short career.
Gloria, a pharmacist at the ASPEN Medical Clinic in Port Moresby, has played a key role in establishing the organization’s pharmaceutical service capacity in PNG. She oversees pharmaceutical operations both in the clinic and for ASPEN MEDICAL’s expanding customer and project portfolio.
She is committed to optimizing pharmaceutical service through efficient processes, strong supplier partnerships, strategic issue resolution, and service excellence to support her organization during her tenure.
Treasurer
Ms Christy Wai
Christy works as a senior pharmacist at Port Moresby General Hospital. With over 12 years of hospital pharmacy experience, she has been associated with the Society since her residency. She served as Treasurer of the Society from 2018 to 2022.
She now serves as the country’s sole cancer pharmacist. With extensive expertise in hospital pharmacy, she has consistently provided insight and assistance in the development of the pharmacy profession in the country.
Administration Manager
Lilly Elari
Lilly is an experienced finance, procurement, and administration professional with 12 years in both the public and private sectors. As the PhSPNG Office Administration Manager under the PATH Program with Abt Associates, she oversees daily operations, ensuring seamless administrative workflows and logistics support.
She specializes in optimizing processes, assessing personnel performance, and driving efficiency. Lilly plays a key role in streamlining office management and implementing improvements that enhance organizational effectiveness.
Support Member
Stewart Abdul Yareki
Stewart Abdul Yareki is a highly skilled public health professional in Papua New Guinea, recognized for his extensive experience in risk communication, logistics, and project coordination across the PNG Centre for Disease Control, National Pandemic Control Centre, and private health initiatives.
He has a proven track record of strong leadership, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement, notably coordinating PNG’s first pandemic response After-Action Review, managing COVID-19 border surveillance, and leading national condom distribution programs. Bringing a diverse skill set from IT, logistics, and aviation maintenance, Stewart is proficient in Microsoft applications and budget forecasting and is multilingual.
His commitment to public health and community development is further demonstrated through his leadership in volunteer initiatives and certifications in HIV workplace programs, making him a valuable asset in dynamic environments.
